ADQUARIUM

Description

Living in a world with all kinds of advertisements stalking and trolling us on our digital devices, Adquarium imagines a digital ecology where the ads live and reside. The project includes Adquarium website and a tiny robot implemented with Photon board and a light sensor. Inspired by surging number of delivery boxes due to the coronavirus sheltering, I imagine the tiny robot resides in our delivery boxes, cereal boxes, and packagings of products. When someone opens the packages, the tiny robot senses light from the outside. The light sensor data will be transferred to Adquarium website and the ads will start flocking Adquarium.

The project is also meant to use and gather data from my groupmate Kate’s Photon board, and her robot has a temperature sensor. Thus, the sublte change of the backgrounud color on Adquarium is the reflecttion of the temperature data.

Concept

I imagine the little photon board robot resides in cereal packaging, shoe box, tea can, delivery boxes. For the website, I am inspired by Craig Reynold’s Boid simulation from 1986.
